Throat Chakra Guide

Updated: Jan 31

Chakras are a system of seven energy centers located along the spine from the perineum to the crown of your head. Each chakra is associated with a particular body location, a color, a central emotional/behavioral issue, and stages of spiritual growth.

What are Chakras?

First of all, you have to consider that there are seven major chakras found in your body. Each chakra is associated with an important part of your body that needs to be balanced in order to promote spiritual balance and good health. The seven chakras are:

Crown (shasrara), Third Eye (ajna, between brows), Throat (vishudda), Heart (anahata), Solar Plexus (manipura or navel), Sacral (svadisthana), and Root (muladhara). Today we are going to be talking about the Throat Chakra.

The Throat Chakra

Vishuddha in Sanskrit but also known as the throat chakra is the 5th chakra and located at the center of the neck. The throat chakra is associated with your voice and ability to communicate graciously, effectively, and truthfully. It is said to also affect the thyroid and parathyroid glands, as well as the function of the throat including the voice, ears, sense of hearing. Attributes of this chakra include the transformation of thoughts into speech, a better ability to speak or sing, and an acute sense of hearing.

Blocked Throat Chakra

If afflicted, this chakra may cause thyroid imbalance, restriction in the voice as well as the inability to comprehend and understand. You will find you find it difficult to express yourself honestly and in front of crowds. You may also feel stump in the creativity department.
